THE RED DIRT WILL RUMBLE

This years Bridgestone Production Sedan Challenge is set to be a thrill

Defending Production Sedan Challenge Winner Mick Hammon is not heading to the goldfields to compete and back his win from last years Challenge, Leaving the top Podium spot up for Grabs.

Barry Rose one of the young talented drivers who competed in the Challenge placing 3rd in 2013 and 2nd in last years challenge and was hoping to get a 1st placing this time  also wont be making the trip to Kalgoorlie after his Sigma suffered problems from his last meeting. Rodney Musarra finishing 3rd in last years Challenge is nominated and ready to take to the track and have fun racing.. but of course hoping to finish in 1st place this weekend.

(2014 Production Sedan Challenge Podium L-R: 3rd Rodney Musarra, 2nd Barry Rose, 1st Mick Hammon)

Rick Musarra having plenty of track time at the Kalgoorlie Speedway returns to the goldfields in a Production Sedan. usually in a Super Sedan when racing in Kalgoorlie but this time joins brother Rodney Musarra as team mates in the #12 and #21 Production Sedans. this weekend will see the brothers battle it out for that podium finish. Who will be the better Musarra in the challenge?

Perth youngster Laura Byrnes isn’t a stranger to the  Kalgoorlie Speedway, turning many laps in her Junior days. Byrnes returns this weekend in better hope of finishing the nights race meeting. Last years challenge Byrnes had problems with burning the Clutch out and then suffering wheel stud problems. As quoted by Laura, “We’re back with some business to finish this year”

Being the only Female driver to compete in this years Challenge Brynes will be showing the boys how its really done, with various podium finishes at the motorplex, travelling state wide from Perth to bunbury to manjimup, Margaret river and Albany. Even having three from three in the last motorplex race which left Byrnes in the lead of the championship. So watch out for Laura Byrnes this weekend at the Challenge.

Local Drivers Robbie Bowdon, Tim Green, Kevin Brewster, Luke Scott, Jason Roberts and Ryan Huxtable race every meeting at their home track and hope to put a damper on some of the visiting driver with having the most track knowledge. But not always the case.. This Season we have seen Tim Green in a his new green Machine put alot of laps in and even wining some of his heats. Will Green be a contender to finish the line first this weekend in the Challenge. Robbie another strong Driver racing this weekend will be once again out on the track to hopefully finish the Feature race this year after last year becoming a DNF and sitting on the in field after 13 laps. In last years Challenge Luke Scott went out in full force to attack the Feature race however too headed to the infield and parked up after 16 laps, where will Luke finish in this Years Challenge?Kevin Brewster last year did 2 heats and decided to park the car up on the trailer… but this Year Brewster will be out on the track to this time go all the way to the top and show these young ones how its done.Jason Roberts and Ryan Huxtable are both new to the Challenge and will be looking at leaving a mark in this Years Challenge.. Both fast Drivers and have had plenty of track time like the other locals its anyone guess on where both Roberts and Huxtable will place.

Mixing it up in the Challenge this year two more local drivers and another visiting driver who general race in the StreetStock Division will this weekend be racing as Productions Sedans. Ray Leonard and Travis Moynihan along with Josh Stweart from Esperance who over the past two weekends have all competed in the Australian Streetstock title and WA Streetstock State title dont want to have a break from racing just yet… Ray Leonard who placed 5th Over all in the WA Streetstock title has a newly built car and is ready to put it to the Challenge. Travis Moynihan who had the first half of the season off speedway has decided to see if he can make that podium finish. Moynihan has raced in a few Proddie Heats this season so he is aware of who he is up against. Esperance driver  Josh Stewart has raced in Kalgoorlie a few times this season and has got to know the track and local Proddie Boys well. This time hoping to get through the nights racing without any damage unlike when Josh last raced in Kalgoorlie.
