Rick Musarra has successfully defended his Production Sedan Challenge Title, leading all the way at the Kalgoorlie Case and Drill, Kalgoorlie International Speedway last night.
Musarra was the highest qualifier, and was never headed in the 30 lap A Main, which went from flag to flag before a good crowd at the Goldfields venue.
Musarra and Rob Bawdon started on the front row in the Feature event, with Kane McDiarmid and Tim Green starting on row two.
The defending title holder opened a small lead from the very beginning, as Tim Green moved to second on lap five, with Bawdon and McDiarmid close behind. Placings remained unchanged in the laps that followed with Kalgoorlie’s Jeff Pahl the first to succumb on lap ten.
At the half way point, McDiarmid moved to third, demoting Bawdon to fourth. Meanwhile, Musarra had opened a commanding lead, as Adrian Reeves, Jack Barnewall, Adrian Noonan and Tim O’Neill retired from the gruelling race in the concluding stages.
Musarra crossed the line 3.608 ahead of Green and McDiarmid, while Bawdon finished fourth, half a lap behind the winner, with Barry Rose fifth and Graeme Rafferty sixth, the last to finish on the lead lap.
