WRUP_STOCKTOBER

Jack Barnewall is today the toast of Kalgoorlie as he last night raced away to win the annual Stocktober event in dominating fashion.

STOCKTOBER 2015 PodiumBarnewall led the thirty lap feature from go to whoa, surviving the direction change at the half way distance to defeat visiting drivers Drew Ogle from Manjimup and Bunbury’s David Padmore.

Barnewall raced into the lead as the green flag flew, while Wayne Glasson settled into second place, challenged by firstly Peter Herbert then Dave Padmore and Peter Walker. Padmore moved into second and Walker into third after the first yellow came on for Glasson who managed to spin himself in turn four.

Drew Ogle managed to work his way up into fourth for the restart, closely followed by Evan Wakefield, with the order remaining unchanged for the next nine laps until Glasson and Wakefield made contact, Wakefield being sent rear of field, eventually spinning out himself and heading infield.

At half race distance, the conclusion of the clockwise laps, it was Barnewall who led Padmore, Walker and Ogle, then as the race restarted in the anti clockwise direction it was Ogle who made the move into third place. Just two laps later Ogle then made the move on Padmore to take over the second place running.

From here the order never changed, with Barnewall recording a fantastic victory over Ogle, Padmore and Walker who were the only four on the lead lap. Terry Maarssen and Josh Fraser rounded out the other finishers.

Interesting to note also that Drew Ogle also sew a brand new one lap race record, besting the old mark of 19.11 to reset the record at 18.992 seconds.

Earlier heat race action saw Wayne Glasson win the opener, before Barnewall went on to win the next two. In the opener Dean Shore and Travis Moynihan both hit the front straight wall coming out of turn four (clockwise direction) in separate incidents, causing significant damage to their machines early on.

On the same program at Kalgoorlie Speedway, Dylan Parkes took out the Junior Sedans feature race while Tim Green was the winner in the Production Sedans division.
